DREAMING OF A HOMELESS SHELTER
This retired Rockhampton couple in their 60s plan to use their $950,024.60 Saturday Gold Lotto windfall to set up a refuge for homeless children.
“It has always been our dream to build some sort of shelter for homeless children, if we ever won Gold Lotto. It will be a place where these kids could feel safe and loved and where they could learn some sort of trade or skill that could equip them for the future.
The generous winner said that if he could help out just five or six kids a year, he’d be “a very happy man”. The couple may also give a little to their large family.
“We’re not rich by anyone’s standards but we have a house, a car and each other, so we don’t really need much more. There are other people who need the money much more than we do,” he said.
